Your cup may be Japanese. Chinese definition of the characters "光壽司" translate to "Light Sushi".

Best regards,

Deatr Bull,
Thank you very much for your response.
I'm afraid it is not right translation since my ceramic is an antiquity. inscriptions are made of Iron pigments under glaze.Cobal has not been used. So these 3 caracteres must have another meaning, and the piece is for sure Chinese.
Thank you .
Best regards,
Rod

Rod, I should have checked the forum archives for the last query about this mark but was pressed for time. Last time I’d translated it in another Japanese variant as ‘Splendid Sushi’. The translation was verified by I.Nagy, the forum’s premiere Asian Linguist, who is fluent in Japanese, Chinese, Korean and other regional languages. The only Chinese translation found for your cup’s mark in the internet’s MDBG Chinese-English Dictionary is this one. Can’t say anything else unless you share images of the cup.

See link below for earlier discussion.

Best regards,

Bill H.
