真逸巌居趣上多
黄松古木鎮烟夢
遙知芝艸神仙侶
眼底欣之意有寓
丁未暮秋月
徐貴寫
It is a lot of fun to live on the cliffs
In the dreamy mist there are yellow pines, old trees and calm
The two friends in immortals' robes know the magic fungi and herbs of the remote places
In the sense of giving joy to eyes
In the Late Autumn of the Year of Fire-Sheep (1907 or 1967)
Painted by Xu Gui
Seal,
徐貴之印 - Seal of Xu Gui

Unidentifiable artist,

With regards,
I.Nagy

Dear I. Nagy, thanks again. Is this an excerpt from a famous poem? I'll have to confirm with the family history which date is more likely.

Dear Norman,
I can't find any known poem results on the Chinese search engines.

Xu Ben 徐賁 rather than Xu Gui, another Ming painter like Qiu Ying and this picture also a forgery, perhaps an anonymous work to which the inscription/seals were later added.

Thanks. Interesting. I forgot to add two more pictures. Does that help explain anything? Regards, Norman

not really; the titleslip just reads "Xu Ben painting", the red tape is a dealer's inventory marking I think.
