How old is this bi disk. The carving a very tiny done olmost microscopic. When you hit it with a coin it has a very hi pitch tone like steel . nephrite jade i presume? I don't like to do a scratch test because don't want to damage it.

old, which failed.

I believe this disc is a fanciful modern carving that has been treated to make it appear old.
Archaic Jade's in general are very expensive ATM. Hence the market for fakes.
I concur with Ernest's post.

"still a nice piece of jade and not serpentine."

That is your opinion. Are you trying to make it sound as though everyone agrees with your assumption?

Hello Gman, not at all. it is a very well made piece of high quality jade. Wich not many could make today. even if it is not old. But that is my opinion. the jade is very translucent and has a very high pitch tone and is solid green throughout without large inclusions.

Agree that it is a modern piece, also agree that it has a high possibility of being made of nephrite jade that was probably mined outside China. So everybody is probably right. Not a bad study piece especially considering how expensive everything especially price of genuine jade stone has become. It is no longer profitable for anybody to make fakes with nephrite jade and sell them at low prices.
