Subject:Opinions On What This carving Is
Posted By: Bill H Mon, Jan 17, 2022 IP: 3.90.47.37 Your carving is of a Burmese musician, possibly ethnic Shan from the headdress. I would guess it to be early 20th century, since the colors appear to be oil-based and brighter than on older carvings of this type. Attached is a 19th century photo of a group of musicians in the latter British Colonial Era, when Burma eventually became the easternmost province of India during the so-called Raj. |

Posted By: Dave H Mon, Jan 17, 2022 Thanks so much Bill. I was in the right place of India but had not narrowed it down as you have. I will follow up on your information and put that with the carving. |
