Subject:Help ID'ing hand thrown Japanese? Porcelain vase
Posted By: Bill Fri, Mar 29, 2024 IP: 104.56.193.45 Hi, I'm looking for help in identifying the age, origin of the vase shown in the attached images. It is hand thrown and just under 14" tall. The only thing I could find hacking around was a mid century (20th) Japanese Arita vase? What would the form / shape be called? Also a translation of the characters near the rim would be great. Thanks. Bill B |

Posted By: Bill Sat, Mar 30, 2024 I've added two more images. Also I have one more question. My images in the original post appear to be squashed top to bottom. The vase is almost 15" tall by 5" wide. any recommendation to help in getting them to display correctly would be appreciated. Thanks. |

Posted By: Bill Mon, Apr 01, 2024 I'm still trying to figure why my images are appearing squashed top to bottom. For what it's worth they always look correct when I preview, but squashed in the actual post. The images included in this update were taken in landscape rather than portrait mode to see if that helps. |

Posted By: Madria Mon, Apr 01, 2024 This vase is reminiscent of gourd-shaped vases and sake bottles. I can't read the kanji but I agree on your 20th century dating. I regret currently not being able to be of greater help. |
