September 1 is the 100th anniversary of the Great Kanto Earthquake which destroyed much of Tokyo and Yokohama. In memoriam, here is a print of the resulting tsunami from Hamada Josen (浜田如洗), showing the devestation. In addition to the tsunami, the earthquake and resulting fires destroyed many buildings and caused terrible casualties.

Thanks for the interesting memorial print. But we should also not forget that this unfortunate natural disaster indirectly led to the massacre of many Koreans, Chinese and other ethnic minorities after rumors spread falsely accusing them of poisoning water wells and other acts of sabotage.
