Hi there, I'm just wondering if you have an image of the item this signature appears on?
It will almost certainly be of great assistance to future attempts by people looking for the same mark on a similar piece.
Kind regards
Aaron from APEX Antiques

Hello Aaron,

Of course, it is on a pair of Cockerel vases as per the image below.
Regards

Many thanks!
I think it's a great shame when all we see is a picture of the mark, it really does limit the usefulness of the translations. With the pictures, comparison of similar work is possible so if one thinks the mark is the same, an examination of the item may be able to confirm.
Anyway, they're a lovely pair of mixed metal cases. The Japanese Artisans were so incredibly skilled at the art of selectively applying & alloying every shade of every metal on one another. It was like metal to them is what paint was to European artists.
Really very lovely.
