Hello,
I would appreciate a translation of the characters and the seal of this vase. Thank you.

Inscription on he neck,
柳毅傳書 The Story of Liu Yi
Title of Tang fantasy fiction by Li Chaowei, popular with dramatists of subsequent dynasties.
The apocryphal six character base mark reads,
大清乾隆年製
Made During the Qianlong Reign of the Qing Dynasty

With regards,
I.Nagy

In my opinion, the vase probably dates to the Republic period (1912-49). The painting style, particularly the portrayal of figures, has drifted from that of the Qing dynasty.

Best regards,

Bill H.

Thanks Bill. I showed it to an auction gallery in New York and their response was similar to yours.
