Subject:Chinese ancestor inscription
Posted By: Lisa Wood Sun, May 14, 2023 IP: 46.69.32.186 Please can someone help with the translation of this inscription on a wooden plaque at the back of an ancestor figural carving. I’m hoping it may identify the person? Many thanks. |

Posted By: Bill H Sun, May 14, 2023 In context, the inscription reads down in Chinese standard script "Image produced in the 12th year of the Republic (1923) - Riches, honors and long life" (Min guo shi er nian zao sheng xiang - Fu gui chang shou - 民國拾弍年造生像 富貴長壽). Note: The date in the inscription is written in the "longhand" banking numerals used to prevent fraud. |
