Subject:Request help identifying Japanese mark on Bronze
Posted By: Roger Mon, Feb 20, 2023 IP: 2601:281:d300:975:39

Hello,
Recently purchased this Japanese Bronze Tiger. I believe it's from the Meiji period but not sure. Would love your thoughts and help identifying the artist mark. Thanks much!

It's a beautiful example.

I agree with you
that it's late Meji period.
These types of bronzes were very popular at the time. I believe it had a significant influence from the opening of the Tokyo museum during the later part of the said period
Unfortunately I can't read the inscription.
Regards,
Mark@imperial

Marking reads,
如湖作 Joko-saku Made by Joko
Late Meji period metal artist.

With regards,
