Subject:Titel of Japanese scrolls
Posted By: Horst Graebner Wed, Sep 28, 2022 IP: 188.107.196.95

I have two Japanese scrolls painted in Chinese style.
Signature and seal "Tenshō" (天祥). I couldn't find anything about the painter.
Both scrolls have a seal at the top right: 吉祥如意(?) What's the point of that?
Titles of the two scrolls?
01 x渓(?)xx / 02 水秀(?)山x ??
Thanks in advance for any help.
Horst

清溪静居 - Clear creek and calm house
水秀山雲 - The water is bright, mountains and clouds are beautiful
Starting seal;
吉祥如意 - Good fortune as one wishes

I can`t find a Japanese painter with such a name either.
It is also possible that the painter of the picture could be Korean.
Korean reading of 天祥; Cheon-sang

With regards,
I.Nagy
