Subject:7" Chinese Blue & White Vase - unsigned
Posted By: Jason Karras Mon, Sep 19, 2022 IP: 2601:249:9080:c90:95

I was hoping someone could give their thoughts on age / identification of this blue and white vase I have. It is 7" high and is unsigned.

From the amount and type of kiln flaws (glaze pops, base crack and what from your less than sharp photo may be sand accretions), I'd speculate that this vase may date to around the latter 3rd to 4th quarter of the 19th century. This was a period when Jingdezhen was recovering from major destruction of kilns and the murder of potters by Taiping rebels during their year-long occupation of the porcelain center in 1855-56. Otherwise, the vase is decorated with a classic Kangxi-era version of the 'prunus and cracked ice' pattern.

Best regards,

Bill H.
