Would anyone be able to give a more specific estimate of the age of this late Qing period cup and saucer ?

A Chinese porcelain item made for export circa 1850 (late Daoguang-to-Xianfeng period), famille rose enamels in a palette sometimes called "Mandarin Blue". Dishes in this palette might be called rare, especially when compared to the massive number of "Rose Medallion" and regular 'Mandarin Rose" dishes exported during the last half of the 19th century. Here are a couple of others in the palette, a dinner plate and a mystery teapot called a "Cadogan" after its English inventor Lord Cadogan.

Sorry to dispel a long standing myth, but Lord Cadogan did not invent the method or style of filling the pot from a tube under a pot. While it is likely that his wife popularized the fashion, it was in use for quite a while prior to her being taken with it.
