甲戌夏奉
介堂二兄大人雅心弟蓮溪畫
Washing feet in the ten thousand mile long river
In the Summer of the Year of Wood-Dog (1874)
Given as gift with respect to my dear second brother Jietang from younger brother.

Lian Xi 蓮溪　1816-1884
Late Qing painter, Native of Xinghua, Jiangsu
Was good at bamboos,stones, flowers and birds etc.
