Subject:Chinese dragon plate - hand painted and gilt
Posted By: Paul Wed, Dec 22, 2021 IP: 2600:8801:9700:234f:

I'm going to guess that this is a "souvenir" plate circa the early 20th century and of no particular value.

But since I've never seen another one like it, I figured I would ask if anyone can tell me anything about it.

Thanks

I would conjecture this to be a mid-to-late 20th centry product of Japan or Taiwan, which was under Japanese control until 1945. The fully glazed foot isn't characteristic of China Mainland dishes.

The middle has a stylized 'Kotobuki/shou' (Longevity) character, shown upside down in the first photo.

Best regards,

Bill H.
