Posted By: Audrius Fri, Nov 26, 2021 IP: 86.38.215.19

Dear All,

can someone please help out with the Chinese porcelain mark translation?

I am assuming - it will Bill :) If not - I would really appreciate translation whoever it will be.

I wish to read Chinese myself :)

Thank you in advance.

Kind regards
Audrius

This marking is No. 2698 and dates from the reign of the Kangxi emperor (1662-1722) in Gerald Davison's new book titled "Marks on Chinese Porcelain. It is translated there as ”Made for the Hall of Gathering Obedience and Beautiful Jade“ (Ju shun mei yu tang zhi - 聚順美玉堂製).

I'd seriously suggest you show full details of both sides of your dish and elicit opinions as to whether it actually dates to the Kangxi period, considering there was a Kangxi revival in the Guangxu period (1875-1908)。

Best regards,

Bill H。

Dear Bill,

thank you for a translation.

It will be a few weeks till I will be able to come up with decent pictures of this porcelain. As at the moment there is nothing much to show, if you know what I mean.

I will be back for sure with good quality pictures.

P.S. this is small vase not a plate or dish.

Kind regards
Audrius
