Subject:Bronze censer mark identification?
Posted By: David Durham Mon, Nov 08, 2021 IP: 5.62.43.251

Hi
Can someone please help me to identify the characters on the base of a small rectangular bronze censer? I would also be interested to know the period, too. Many thanks in anticipation.
David

It isChinese or Korean.
縁雪庚製 - Made by Yuanxue (Yeon-seol) in the Year of Metall (geng)
Yuanxue (Yeon-seol) is a given name.
Metall (geng) years are coming up once in every 10th year combined with one of the 12 Earthly Branches in the 60-year calendrical cycle. Here the Earthly Branch is not given, therefore the date cannot be determined.

(Korean readings are in parentheses)

With regards,
I.Nagy

Hello I.Nagy

Thank you very much for very kindly providing your very helpful information.

I have attached a few images of the censer itself, and would be most grateful if you could please offer your comments on this. Many thanks.

Kind regards
David Durham
