Subject:Help please with translation of a Teapot inscription & year of make
Posted By: Udo B. Mon, Oct 04, 2021 IP: 114.198.14.137

Bought this about 6 month ago, I think it might be vintage but it has no mark on the bottom. There is a inscription to the side and symbols on the lid. If anyone can help with identification/translation of the script and pots age it would be appreciated.
Thank you kindly
Udo

Side,
寒夜客来茶当酒
When visitor comes on a cold night,
make tea instead of wine
Lid,
一良花美 - One beautiful flower
Red mark,
吉 - Ji - Surname

Could be from the end of the 20th century.

With regards,
I.Nagy

Dear I. Nagy
Thank you once again for sharing your wealth of knowledge and wisdom. End of 20th Century sounds good to me for the date, I very much appreciate your dating and also the identity of the artist name, I thought it was just a bit of decoration.
Kind Regards,
Udo

I agreed with Nagy except for the lid mark.
My understanding about the lid mark is
一片冰心—from a famous poem —一片冰心在玉壶, means I put my ice like (pure) heart in the teapot.

Pei,
Thank you for the correct reading.
I troubled to misread it.

Hello Pei
Thank you kindly for your interpretation and input, maybe that is why it has a snow scene (ice) painting.
I cannot add nor takeaway from this as I cannot read the Chinese scrip language. Thanking you for your knowledgeable answer and I will gladly take this on board.
Kind Regards,
Udo
