Where does the mark come from?

The mark reads: Imoto 井元.

Mark of Imoto Tamesaburo (1874-1945), a wealthy Nagoya potter and ceramics exporter, who founded the Imoto shop in 1897. active from the Late Meiji to the early Showa Period. He made his fortune exporting Japanese porcelain to the United States and Europe.

Looking at the poor hand painted details on transfer printed decorations, your set is most likely from the 1930's when mass production was exported.
Regards,
Martin.
