Inscription on lid,
絹本山水大立軸 - Landscape on silk, large hanging scroll
Inscription on label,
絹山水立轴 - Silk, landscape, hanging scroll

In the lower right part of the picture I can see two dots that look like characters or seal prints,
but I can't magnify them enough for interpretation.

With regards,
I.Nagy

Thank you for your information. I appreciate it. This scroll is painted and not printed. It was bought in China in 1955 and I don't think that a the early communist period in China was made museums repros.

A watercolor woodblock print of original painting. A copying technique that was created after 1951 by Rong Bao Zhai (榮寳斎)Company in Beijing, using multiple carved woodblocks to copy the multicolor image. From
1954 they started to reproduce silk landscape paintings. After that, Rong Bao Zhai copied famous old paintings from small to large, single frame to whole sets of albums. The artistic level of these watercolor woodblock prints are almost indistinguishable from the originals.

Thank you for you answer. I now the prints on Rongbaozhai but all prints were made on paper and not on the silk. Has they made prints on silk too?

Dear Chris,
The following newspaper article touches on the subject of reproducing images on silk material at Ron Bao Zhai. However, it dosen't give exact year when they started it.
The article is in Japanese, but you can get a passable English translation of it by your PC translator App.

If your scroll is not a Rong Bao Zhai or other repro, it can only be a copy done by a painter. Early Rong Bao Zhai repros are quite expensive.

Thank you very much. This artikel was for me very interested because I have many booklets from Rongaozhai with woodblock prints von Qi Baishi. All of this prints was bought from soldiers or diplomats in the 50thies in China. I have bought some paintings on silk. It is possible that are from Rongbhaozhai and therefore I have asked if they has made prints in silk. This new srcolls (3 x) I have allready postet at forum.
