Subject:Bronze Akita puppy signature and info?
Posted By: Sally Hickling Tue, Jul 13, 2021 IP: 80.189.0.30

I have inherited a bronze figure of an Akita puppy 4" high, 4"long and 31/4" wide. I am keen to know more about it and what the marks on the bottom are. Can anyone please help?

The signature reads 厚義作 (Atsuyoshi saku), followed by the seal of the Maruki Company (まるき社製 - 'Maruki sei').
High end quality okimono, designed and made by the craftsman Atsuyoshi, commisioned by the Maruki Company in Tokyo (retailer), late Meiji period (1900-1910).

Guy.
