Subject:Brass bowl with wires on top
Posted By: Etty Isaac Sat, Jul 10, 2021 IP: 2a00:23c4:290f:8500:

Hi there,
I wonder if anyone can tell me anything about this bowl
It seems like brass to me and there are two mark at the back. One seems to be some type of Chinese symbols and another very faint that might be a makers mark. There are also two metal wires stretched over the bowl which I have no idea what is there purpose. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. The bowl is approximately 12cm in diameter

It is Japanese,
Marking reads,
玉川堂 - Gyokusendō

Manufacturer of the world's highest quality hammered copperware from Niigata. It was founded in 1816, today, the business is run by the 7th generation.
Nor do I know what the wires are for.

With regards,
I.Nagy
