The inscription reads:

'Dai Nippon Kaiyôsha kojin Takenouchi'
大日本 開洋仕 コ人竹ノ内
(Imperial Japan, Kaiyosha, craftsman Takenouchi).

Totai-jippô (partial plique-à-jour) applied on Seto ceramics, made in the Kaiyôsha workshop in Nagoya, decorator Takenouchi Chûbei, date ca. 1878-1885.

Guy.

大日本 - Dai-Nippon
開洋社 - Kaiyōsha
工人作ノ内 - Kōjin-saku no uchi - From the works of craftsmen

Meiji export ceramics. Kaiyōsha was a short lived company estabilished by Matsumura Kusuke in Nagoya in 1891 and dissolved in 1897.

With regards,
I.Nagy
