Subject:Japanese Enamel Tea Bowls Flower Set
Posted By: Dan D Fri, Apr 23, 2021 IP: 107.181.177.13

Hi all,

I have this set of beautifully decorated Japanese tea bowls featuring different types of flowers with beautiful enamel & gold detailing. I don't believe they are antique but I would like to know what the mark on the bottom mark says. I guess they could also be Chinese but I feel they have a very Japanese naturalistic style to me. What are your thoughts?

PS: Arge. I have been trying and trying to shrink the picture size but your server keeps putting the preview showing them as giant so I cant seem to shrink them down. Please just drag the pics into a new tab to make them small enough to see properly.

Thank you!
D.

I also believe these cups are Japanese.
The mark reads 葆文 which in native Japanese is the name Shigefumi or in Sino-Japanese the name is Hobun.
Anyway, in both cases I was not able to find any information on the net.
But maybe someone in the forum knows a bit more.
Regards,
Martin.

Hi Martin,

Thank you for the response I just noticed this now. Unfortunately I cant find anything either. Japanese porcelains arent my strength, I just thought they were finely painted so I was hoping they would be done by someone known.

D.
