Posted By: Bill H Tue, Feb 14, 2023 based on the style, I believe your Buddha image is more likely to be Rattanakosin Kingdom (1782–1932), which would explain why its base appears to have been reduced using a modern-era machine-driven grinding wheel. Here's a similar one with clay core also intact that sold at auction last December. I also include pictures of another one I collected in Thailand with a topknot form suggesting a lotus bud and about 6-in high. No clay core but its base has been sealed with a blessed silk offering by a monk to assure it has been used in worship. |
