Subject:Artist signatures on eggs
Posted By: Angela Thu, Sep 22, 2022 IP: 73.45.65.219 I purchased three little beautiful hand painted real eggs at an estate sale and I have them displayed in my house. I love them. I’ve tried to find out whether they are by a Chinese or Japanese artist. Each has a unique signature. I am not looking to value them. I would just like to know their origin and or story. If no one is able to tell me what they say, would you be able to tell me whether they are Chinese or Japanese signatures? I have very little experience but love Asian art. |

Posted By: Angela Sun, Sep 25, 2022 Thank you so much for your response! The egg with the shrimp is actually my favorite. It is disappointing to know that it is copied artwork but I am happy to learn about Qi Baishi. I will research him. I assume these must be tourist items. |

Posted By: Stan Thu, Jun 20, 2024 Your (quite faded) print is by Keisai Eisen and is titled "Purple Dye". It was printed circa 1840. See a better example below. |
