Subject:Artist signatures on eggs
Posted By: Angela Thu, Sep 22, 2022 IP: 73.45.65.219

I purchased three little beautiful hand painted real eggs at an estate sale and I have them displayed in my house. I love them. I’ve tried to find out whether they are by a Chinese or Japanese artist. Each has a unique signature. I am not looking to value them. I would just like to know their origin and or story. If no one is able to tell me what they say, would you be able to tell me whether they are Chinese or Japanese signatures? I have very little experience but love Asian art.

Your eggs are Chinese,
Pic.1,
白石虾 - Baishi* Shrimps
甲寅年春 - Year of Wood-Tiger (1974) Spring
Seal,
林山 - Linshan
* Copy of Qi Baishi`s iconic ink wash shrimps

Pic. 2,
游魚 - Swimming fish(es)
藝 - Art
Seal,
石川 - Shichuan

Pic.3
松鶴 - Pine(s) and crane(s)
癸丑 - Year of Water-Ox (1973)
I can`t decipher the seal

With regards,
I. Nagy

Thank you so much for your response! The egg with the shrimp is actually my favorite. It is disappointing to know that it is copied artwork but I am happy to learn about Qi Baishi. I will research him. I assume these must be tourist items.
