Fig. 36:
Experimental reconstruction of the Medical College on Chakpori, Lhasa

Plan C / Prayer Hall
Research and drawing by Knud Larsen
2015

This is, for the time being, the final attempt at a reconstruction. It was presented at the IATS-seminar in Bergen, Norway 2016. This plan shows the Prayer Hall with its twenty pillars. The main stairs are located in the south-east corner because it is seen on the photo by Josef Vanis that there is a small building on the roof in that corner, which looks like a stair shelter. The spaces around the Prayer Hall are located according to the doctor’s sketch in the German book. The inner structure of the tower is not known but it seems reasonable that there must have been a couple of pillars to support the upper floors. A central pillar as suggested in the first reconstruction attempt seems to be an unlikely possibility. The toilet with access from the print shop is shown as is the shaft for the toilet on the roof above.
