Fig. 34:
Experimental reconstruction of the Medical College on Chakpori, Lhasa

Plan A / Gatehouse
Research and drawing by Knud Larsen
2015

This is, for the time being, the final attempt at a reconstruction. It was presented at the IATS-seminar in Bergen, Norway 2016. The big orange form is a horizontal section through the top of the hill. The outline is of course not exact as I had no access to the site. Once reconstruction is planned an exact survey of the topography will be done. Supposedly the original top has been cut off to establish a platform for the TV-mast as can be seen on the Google Earth photo. If a reconstruction will take place the hill top should also be reconstructed. The Entrance-/kitchen building is here called the Gatehouse. It is supposed that the kitchen was on the upper floor while the ground floor space was used as storage for food and water. The only access to the Medical College was through the Gatehouse, which must also have housed a guard, who then has had a sleeping room supposedly downstairs.
