Subject:Help date moon flask

Posted By: Bill H Tue, Oct 13, 2020 Your moon flask is datable by its 'pendant jewels' borders at the neck and foot to have been made about the 1930s or later. A similar style of figural painting also was seen around the same time in the Republic Period. See examples in the 'Star Gods' pattern herewith. |

Posted By: Bill H Tue, Oct 13, 2020 I finally found where I'd filed photos of my unmarked 12-inch charger which appears to have the same scene of figures as your moon flask, which I believe depicts a group of Luohan, who are deities who like the historic Buddha have attained enlightenment. The style is very similar to the Star God dishes already shown. |
