Subject:Japanese Actor Print Translation Help
Posted By: Stan Sun, Sep 20, 2020 IP: 2601:18c:504:a6e0:d0 I recently purchased 7 Japanese actor prints by Kunisada because I liked the price and the condition. The one below has good green color (fades to blue when exposed to light for any length of time) for a print nearly 200 years old. |

Posted By: Guy Mon, Sep 21, 2020 Some additional info. This actor print was designed by Utagawa Kunisada (1789-1865) and published by Matsumura Tatsuemon in 1826, 9th lunar month. The kabuki actors are Seki Sanjûrô II (1786-1839) as the blind masseur (zatô) and Yamashina Jinkichi IV (dates unknown) as the dog (ime) in the 5-role hengemono entitled "Kaesu gaesu Onagori no Ôtsue", performed in Edo (Tokyo), Nakamura theatre. |
