Subject:Bronze figurine of odd looking samurai.
Posted By: Spartakos Sun, Oct 14, 2018 IP: 49.49.250.220 Dear forum members, could you please tell me if it is a figurine of some particular character or generic statue. And possible the makers name. |

Posted By: Guy Mon, Oct 15, 2018 The signature reads 'Hidehisa saku' (秀尚作 - made by Hidehisa) I'm not entirely sure about the pronunciation of the name but it refers to a Japanese metalworker Shiroyama Hidehisa (城山秀尚). Found no further biographical data. Probably late Meiji to Taisho period (first quarter 21st century). |

Posted By: Yurike Tue, Oct 16, 2018 This is Japanese and I think this is of Daikoku who is considered to be the god of wealth, or of the household, particularly the kitchen. He is usually portrayed with a wide face and smile and he is often carrying a sack and holding a golden mallet called Uchide no kozuchi, otherwise known as the mallet of fortune. No idea on who the artist may be. |
