A sensitively modelled and idiosyncratic head of an unknown male figure from one of the region's earliest Buddhist cultures. Under exuberantly curled hair, the face with widely spaced, open eyes, a long nose with flared nostrils, high cheekbones and a full lipped mouth stares enigmatically at the viewer. Good condition. This head was exhibited at "Exhibition of Sculpture from Cambodia and Thailand", 11th July-28th August 1977, Gallery 'De Ruimte' - Jean and Marcel Nies, Eersel (N-B) Holland
