I picked this vase up at an estate sale. They had a lot of really nice Asian pieces, but no one seemed to know what to make of this one. I am assuming its 19th or 20th century. It's also very big--nearly 16 inches tall. Lots of very fine crackles all over, kind of a salty surface, as well. Dark ochre glaze and applied chilong dragons.
I've done a lot of research on it, but can't find anything very similar. I know this motif was popular in the 1700s, especially in Jingdezhen. When you wet the base, it smells really earthy and nice. It much have been made in a mold? Any thoughts are appreciated. Thanks.
