Message Suyun (素雲) was the signature of a 'paintress of the Qing dynasty', according to one of our favorite contributors in the forum (See Link). The difference here is that the signature uses the simplified version of Yun/云, suggesting the artist of the mulberry bark painting may also be a woman who is paying tacit homage to the Qing artist, who painted on something besides mulberry bark paper in any event. Just a thought, Bill H. Link :Yi Suyun
