Painting on silk |

Message Not sure either as I don't know much about Japanese painters but don't think this relates very obviously to Maruyama Okyo, who was an 18th century painter. "Nihon Shoga-Kotto Daijiten" is a dictionary of some sort, possibly a biographical dictionary of Japanese painters where your researcher found Hogyo/Hokyo, or possibly a dictionary of artist's seals that identified Hogyo as your artist. one of the Japan experts who has similar reference works at their disposal should be able to help.
