Chinese painting - student of Qi Baishi? |
Posted By: Tim Posted Date: Mar 12, 2016 (02:47 PM) |
Message Went to my first estate sale in Palm Beach in quite a while. Could I get some help with the writing? The painting is most certainly in the style of Qi Baishi, there looks to be one of his seals in the top right corner, and the painting appears to have come through a very reputable gallery in Pittsburgh that deals in fine 20th c. art. However, the brush strokes look different than what I see in Qi Baishi paintings, and the writing is not decipherable to me. I have sent an email to the gallery to see if they have any provenance on the painting, or perhaps it was only framed there. Until then, would anyone help me with a translation? Thank you.
