Re: ID gold painted mark on bud vase |
Posted By: Bill H Posted Date: Feb 19, 2016 (01:57 AM) |
Message The mark is that of the Japanese Koransha (Fragrant Orchid) Company. The top part is the orchid logo, and the kanji characters are those for the name. The mark and vase are of the late 20th century. Here's another late 20th century Koransha vase of the same form with motif of Children Playing and measuring just about nine inches tall. The elements of the mark are the same except positioned horizontally and written in underglaze blue. I'm guessing that your vase has a gilt mark to signify that it is hand painted. Mine is transfer-decorated. Best regards, Bill H. ![]() |
