With regard to Prof. Huntington's remarks, the bibliography of the article provides many references, but I would like to draw readers' attention to the following references for presentation of excavated metalwork from Sasanian
Iran and post-Sassanian silver work attributed to Sogdian production:

"Monks and Merchants, Silk Road Treasures from Northwest China", by Annette Juliano and Judith Lerner, includes objects as well as essays discussing the artistic production of Sogdians and their role as merchants promoting international trade along the Silk Route.
