Message This isn't a character but a scroll motif commonly called an "arabesque" and frequently encountered in Chinese and Japanese ceramic patterns. Here's an enlargement of a section of diaper on a late 19th century Guangxu-period vase. Best regards, Bill H. PS, your "Satsuma" egg looks like one of the Chinese fakes that sometimes have labels of "Royal Satsuma". ![]() |
