2 Asian ink and color on silk paintings |
Posted By: myarn Posted Date: Jan 23, 2013 (06:06 PM) |
Message I just bought these at an estate auction, and keep vacillating between thinking they are modern reproductions and rare, old, album leaves. They measure approximately 6 1/2 inches across, and 8 1/2" high. Both have signatures and a seal. I do know that the symbols are old Japanese (or current Chinese). I opened the back on one. It is glued to a fine paper and has a silk brocade border on the front edge. It is a centuries old method of preserving the silk image, and I believe it is still used today. If anyone can help me determine their value, I would greatly appreciate it. ![]() ![]() ![]() |
