A chinese bowl with a dilemma

Had this object lying around for years, the other day got into a conversation with a friend who runs an art gallery dealing with totally different objects, but who, nevertheless, is convinced to be an expert in.. well.. everything art related.

Anyway he thinks it's from the late 1800s... I beg to differ, but I need some proof to corroborate my thesis

My grandpa got it in the late 30s from a dutch friend who spent the turn of the century in Asia.
