mystery Chinese bowl |
Posted By: Judith Klinghoffer Posted Date: Sep 23, 2012 (10:18 PM) |
Message I do not believe my 11" bowl is particularly valuable. The reason being is that the bottom of the piece has no marking and is unglazed. But after careful examination I found that the there is a black stamp. As you can see it is a bit smudged but it consists of a black circle with a horizontal crescent. There are some dotlike markings above it. I cannot find anything similar either in Chinese or Japanese pottery though I may have missed something very obvious. I would like to add another interesting factor I have just noticed. There is a marked difference between the flat red paint and the more vibrant an protruding blue, green and yellow ones. It also shows some sign of age. Web album Link :Sept. 23, 2012 Post a Response |
