Antique Chinese or Japanese Statue/ Figurine |

Message I bought this figurine from a flee market because it looked very old to me and it was incised with a mark on the bottom. I read that incised marks were usually an artist signature and that they replaced this with stamps or seals in the mid 1800's. I dont know if this is accurate but I do know that this statue looks very old. It is also very well done ie. sculpting, painting, etc. Does anyone know anything about this figurine or the artist.
