Re: identify mark on chinese dragon cup and saucer |

Message Hi David, Beside the red China marking on your "ricegrain" cup and saucer it has a blue mark that reads " Wanyu ". This mark has been used from Kangxi period and on. Your cup and saucer withe a rubber stamp execution of the mark probably dates from 1925-1945 and maybe even later. This rice grain pattern (a kind of revival of the older "Devilsware") started in the second half of the 19th. century and is made till today. Regards, Arjan Post a Response |
