Identifying a Japanese Bronze |
Posted By: Jeannine Darretta Posted Date: May 30, 2009 (08:34 AM) |
Message I would like some help identifying this bronze. Someone translated the mark as dai-mei sentoku. Not sure if its completely accurate. I think sentoku is correct as "yellow bronze" would account for the color of the vase. I think the composition is quite nice. However, the detailed workmanship seems crude when compared to the skill level of most japanese bronzes. Perhaps it was done by a student. Any information on period, value or just general identification would be most helpful. Thank you in advance. ![]() ![]() |
