Message Dear Forum Members, I would like to invite you to our upcoming exhibition The Persistence of Form, showcasing artist Joseph Kim. The realist work of Joseph Kim, powerful and hauntingly direct, presents the viewer with timeless portraits of humanity. Drawn from Biblical and classical sources, Kims subject matter is man himself, poised in moments of true emotion. Rendered with a striking realism reminiscent of Caravaggio, Kims characters convey their hardships, struggles, and resignations through a single frozen expression. In their precision and intensity, these lifelike figures dominate Kims compositions. While historical in nature, his creations are generally free of periodizing detail, thus posing these men and women as our contemporaries, afflicted with the difficulties and sorrows that burden us all. As such, Kims masterful paintings focus attention on the universal communicative power of human posture and countenance. Joseph Kims work has appeared in shows in London, Florence and New York City at the National Arts Club. Joseph Kim currently lives and works in Northbrook, Illinois. To view Joseph Kim's work, please visit http://www.agora-gallery.com/ArtistInvite/Joseph_Kim.aspx . The Persistence of Form runs December 7 - December 27 in Agora Gallery's Chelsea location at 530 West 25th Street. The reception takes place Thursday, December 7, 6-8 PM. The exhibition is free and open to the public.
