Help Identifying Traditional Indian Painting – Possible Pattachitra? |
Posted By: SEHA Posted Date: Mar 03, 2025 (04:24 AM) |
Message Hello everyone, I recently acquired a framed painting and am trying to identify its origin and possible artist. The artwork features a procession of musicians, a noble figure on horseback, and a tiger, all painted in an intricate folk-art style. The colors are earthy, with bold black outlines, and the medium appears to be fabric or handmade paper. From my research, it resembles Pattachitra paintings from Odisha or West Bengal, but I’d love expert input to confirm this. The frame is old, and the back is sealed with cardboard, with no visible signature. The only marking inside is "101 x 25" written in pen. I’ve attached close-up images for reference. Any insights into the region, style, or possible artist would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance for your help. Post a Response |
