Message Your box is painted in a manner that seemingly tries to emulate the palette and style of late Qing Qianjiang artists who flourished at Jingdezhen circa 1885 to 1911. However, most of them signed and sealed their art with individual marks or written attributions instead of using apocryphal reign marks such as the "Made during the Qianlong reign" (Qianlong nian zhi - 乾隆年製) on the base of this piece. I'd speculate it was made during the latter days of the Republic period (1912-49) or first few years of the ensuing Peoples Republic (1949-present). Best regards, Bill H. Post a Response |
