Re: difficult/simple? sosho kanji in Kozuka Mei |
Posted By: Steve Smith Posted Date: Sep 16, 2018 (07:46 AM) |
Message Many thanks indeed to Rat and I.Nagy. I had tried to identify this kanji starting with at least five different radicals (all of which were possible) and found nothing that was a close enough match to convince me. Sadly the artist name 'Rinposai' does not appear in any of the Meikan's/Hara/Daniels/Shosankenshu etc so he remains elusive despite demonstrating superlative skills in this kozuka, dated Tempo 14 (1843). I have not yet given up identifying him as, like many other craftsmen, this may one of several assumed Art names he may have used, in preference to his own name. My very sincere thanks for this 'consultation'! Post a Response |
